Halloween reads

Only a few more days till Halloween...Towards the end of September I dug out some of my favorite scary stories or anything with a Halloween theme.





Last year I missed out on reading one of my childhood favorites Scary Stories to read it the dark because I had lost it somewhere I spent a year searching for it and couldn't find it and it was the wonderful Treasury that Josh had gotten me for Christmas one year
I didn't want to miss out on reading it out loud to him this Halloween so I had him order a replacement on Amazon and it was actually pretty cheap.

Heres how the books originally came ( paperback ) and how I first discovered them in fourth grade at quiet reading time.

 This is the version I have its a big hardcover book with all of the stories and the classic art work
they unfortunately have changed a lot of it for some reason.

 This story is one of the scariest its about two men who are bored and decide to build a scarecrow they are cruel to it and comes to life and skins them and hangs them on the roof.

This one is a story I always thought was funny because its about parents who go on a trip to mexico and instead of getting there kid something normal for a gift like Mexican jumping beans or a paper mache donkey they find what they think is a dog and bring it back ( isn't that illegal ? ) and it gets sick so they take it to the doctor and he tells them its a sewer rat with rabies..

The stories in these books are great the writer gathered urban legends from all over and he even got some from my home town and areas around me.

Next up is something else that I enjoy from my childhood ..I remember as a kid my mom got it into her head that these books are bad....its funny because they are pretty lame.

This is one of my favorite Agatha Christies not only does it have a Halloween Party going on at the beginning of the story but it has two of my favorites Poirot and Ariadne Oliver ( not sure if I spelled her name right ) its a great book...Plus look at the cover :)

Non vintage items on etsy

Im getting red in the face..im feeling faint and I kind of feel like im going to throw up but not before I break something..Im that upset ..


Why you might ask?
Because being a true vintage nut and finding non vintage items all over etsy is driving me insane..

its been going on for awhile now but its only gotten worse..

to be honest I had always thought it was horrible to report someone or message them to tell them they are doing something wrong..I have always been like mind your own business but finally I snapped it started with Mighty Muggs and brand new Star wars bobble heads from Toys r us

next I found a repro Rainbow Brite..

I messaged the owner of this....repro to tell him that it was, he is a guy so I thought that maybe he just didn't understand Rainbow Brite but it turns out the guy was just a scumbag who loves money and doesn't mind lieing to his customers he didn't want to know the truth about his doll so despite the fact that he now knows he has kept it up for sale.

Rainbow Brite had Orange hair and her Sprite Twink was fabric not plastic ( plus everything about that Rainbow Brite is wrong just wrong )
also I sent the guy several links proving to him but he still said I was wrong..

Next we have this wonderful collectible vintage treasure that the shop owner claims is from the 1960s ,,,,really how dumb does she think we are..Shrek came out in 2001 and I forget what year they had the baby but its even later than 2001.

We also have from there store a teletubbie they came out in 1997

As much as I love Pokémon it doesn't belong in the vintage section its not vintage yet..im not that old..

Halloween Shopping

I thought about doing a blog everyday of October but I got to busy so now here goes Ill just do a couple blogs about my favorite holiday and favorite month of the whole year.

I start getting really excited for Halloween at the end of August that's when I start making a list of all the new horror movies I should buy its actually getting harder every year to come up with new ones because I have watched so many..My shelf is over loaded with horror movies.

I also bought 2 box sets of Twilight Zone season 1 and 2 and I have to say im really enjoying them
I usually start my Horror movie marathon in September but save the best stuff for last.





After planning out my horror movie list I then start planning what horror movie t-shirts Im going to buy I usually buy 2 but this year I went all out and bought 5 I really couldn't choose.

I have watched a ton of cool new horror movies lately I know I said I was running out ..I guess the truth is I was running out of my usual slashers I have now started watching other types of horror movies ghosts and alien type stuff which Josh is happy with because he is super tired of the slasher stuff..I plan on watching most of those on my movie nights alone.

He did however watch The House on Sorority Row with me and though he said he was super predictable but I think he liked it.

I think one of my favorites that I have watched out of the new to me stuff has to be Rosemarys Baby

I plan on watching a ton more movies besides the ones I recently bought.

Its not all blood and gore though I have been watching other things aswell

every year I watch The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown I love it its my favorite out of all of them!

I also watch some Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors and of course Halloween South Park episodes :)

There aren't enough of them though I wish they would do one every year :)

 I also dig out some Scooby doo...

 

Another thing I like to do is visit the Halloween store..I love it I usually don't buy much though this year I bought  Bunny mask and a giant rubber cat
