Flea market finds Saturday- We're looking for treasure

I put my shop on vacation mode for 2 weeks hoping I would get lots done in the meantime..but as it usually turns out I got sick and hardly got anything done ..I did however go flea marketing one day but the rest of the vacation was all sleep because I have been sick and cold medicine knocks me out,

My shop is back up and running now and Christmas was a blast ( Ill talk about that in another post )

This is all about my finds on my last flea market trip

After being snowed in for so long I needed to get out of the house and I was dyeing  to go on a treasure hunt.

My usual flea market was a near let down ( by that I mean I found some good stuff just not much and not really what I was looking for )

I found a handful of cool childrens books

I love this Richard Scarry Book and so does Josh :)
I love how the lion has a pipe ..you wont find that now days in books parents would scream and get it banned its sad really..even poor old Mr Potato head had to give up his pipe because the world is unaccepting of those who smoke and political correctness has killed our freedom
Enough ranting though..because I could seriously go on all day about it..and not take a breath.

This book is so sweet its full of poems about the weather and seasons and holidays
I of course love the cover :)
and this sweet book about dinosaurs! its seems like something my husband would have had as a child he loved dinosaurs and still does.
This book is also very cute not sure why the bears name is Piggle  though guess Ill have to read it.
I found these kewpie salt and pepper shakers and just could not resist...Im a sucker for anything Kewpie.

Well were about to leave and at the last booth I found some toys ..I had been so disappointed because I hadn't found any and this girl caught my eye
I had found her before online and thought she was small but she is actually quite large
she is a 1966 Color me carol she was a promo item for a makeup company and she used to come with crayons..she is neat she cost 18.00 which is about what she usually goes for online
next to her was a couple of squeakys not in good shape and all 18.00 I thought about them and decided no because I could get them online for less and in better shape.
While we were checking out I decided I wanted to go to another flea market and I mentioned to Josh that Id like to go to Connies new location ..as the had shut down there old location which happened to be the flea market I was at ..but the girl at the check out said they closed down but that it had new owners.. so we went not expecting much but I found some neat things.

I found a booth that had several great toys  a little Irwin celluloid doll ( He has a crack in his poor face though and I need to figure out how to keep it from spreading )
An Edward Mobley doll which was actually on my Christmas list which I told Josh he could just buy it for me and save the time of ordering it he of course did :) also she was one of the ones I spotted at the other flea market for 18.00 and in bad shape ..glad I held out on the first one because this one only cost 8.00 and her colors are so much brighter.
I also got this cute kewpie with clothes I try to tell myself not to buy every kewpie I come across ( as if I can resist ) and of course I rationalized it by saying to myself I don't have one like this...its different ..I need it...
I found thumper plush :) he has lots of wear in his poor fur but he is still so cute.
this carnival prize looking bear..oh so retro..oh so kitsch..how could I resist?
This cute little doll in a raincoat .who is naked underneath .,,, I guess she must have been dared to go out in nothing but a raincoat and boots.
and yes another kewpie..once again I told myself you don't have this one and you can put it up for adoption in your shop,,
Believe it or not there were 2 more kewpies that I passed up..
and this I have no idea what it is ..its made of plastic thick plastic and its just really strange
does anyone know?

Well that's it for now hopefully Ill go out again very soon :)

Flea marketing saturdays

Saturday I got to go flea marketing I overslept by an hour but it ended up not mattering much because I finished on time.

We went to carthage which is one of my usual places I go but it has been awhile and yet the inventory hadn't changed much at all.. very disappointing Ill have to switch it out with a new area for flea marketing which Ill probably do again soon as Im trying to get my shop to 200 items its been my goal for awhile and I never make it..
but I almost have 200 sales so I should do 200 items once I reach 200 to celebrate :)

So I guess on average I make 100 sales a year wish it was a bit more but I pretty much only sell toys and vintage toys which means I have to market to adults with big hearts who still remember childhood...they are the best kind my favorite kind of people.

Well anyways Ill quit rambling on and Ill tell you about my trip

I stopped at the first flea market which is my favorite of the bunch because in the past I have found some great things kewpies and Puppy Brite and a squeaky tennis player.

I did find a few goodies

This cute little tykes toddle tot with dump truck :)
I bought a to of these Goosebumps stickers just for the fun of it im not even sure what im going to do with them :)
This is the second Stan plush I have found in the last 2 flea marketing trips I usually never find South park stuff so I felt pretty lucky to find him..I of course will probably only be keeping one Stan and Ill sell the other either on ebay or through my facebook.
I bought this for a laugh Im giving it to my mom who is a Spanish teacher :)
This guy is so cute and kitsch he will be going into Merrills charity store.
My favorite find of the day the only squeaky and one I have wanted for awhile perfect for my upcoming winter scenes :)
A cute kitschy lamb planter also going to Merrills shop
and I couldn't resist these guys I love everything 70s and Love is perfect :)
in one of my dads old High School year books its actually the theme for Football Homecoming.
It turns out I went wild on the breakables I usually try not to but I found so many cute ones that I couldn't resist this guy almost got broken a few times by the people at the counter..happens every time I buy a ceramic bunny..I love him because he reminds me of the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland ..He will be going into Merrills shop.
With Christmas coming up I thought she would be a good addition to the shop.
Next I found a bag of doll heads..which I always buy when I find a good deal it was a large bag for 5.00 I mostly bought it for the giant clown head who I have already used he had a derby hat on that I wanted for a project and it had to be cut off him and I think Ill use his face as a mask for one of my dolls.

This little guy was in the bag of doll heads...scared still of the clowns who were wanting to eat him.
These look like cabbage patch doll heads..but they are apparently older and made by someone else..which leads me to wonder lots of things......
the heads came with one of these pretty much just like a Cabbage Patch doll when you unfold it theres a birth certificate.

My next stop was to a flea market where I have had lots of luck in the past I found my Brite Eyed kid and my celluloid walker doll but...its inventory hadn't changed much at all and they now don't take debit cards but I did get 2 items which the lady held for me while I went to a atm machine.

This guy is oh so cute I almost want to keep him he is so snuggly and soft.
And this thing it reminds me of a puffalump but im pretty sure its not..Any ideas?
there wasn't a tag on it.

I went to one more flea market but didn't find anything at all that I wanted and I decided to skip the rest because they were the more expensive wanna be upscale flea markets where they charge you 50.00 dollars for a mcdonalds toy ..( im serious ) or ones with mostly furniture and art for high prices.

Toy Photography

So toys have always been a passion of mine and so it only makes sense that Id enjoy taking photos of them as well.. I have been taking photos of them for awhile now for fun and for my book I have been working on and I had thought about putting up prints in my etsy shop to help support my book but I hadn't been to sure about anyone liking them but so many of my friends who I have shown the photos to have been really supportive and sweet to me and it gave me the courage to list some
I even sold one print to a dear sweet friend of mine it was a great feeling.
I hope that others well be interested in my photos and that these photos well leave a smile on their faces and hearts...
I know I feel really good when Im out and about taking photos of my toys it gives me a chance to use my imagination and my husband even helps me :)
Josh has been really supportive over this he even copyrighted the photos for me.

Its fun to find new locations for my photos and new toys for my photos always an adventure :)

I took this photo in the park where I got married
I have taken many photos there now because its such a beautiful place/

Also in the park where I got married in the garden part of the main park.
I haven't listed this one on etsy yet but I will soon..This is one of the first toy photos I took..It was taken in the woods at a spring.
This was taken in my toy cabinet one night after I rearranged them.
Josh took this one for me because it was the last day to get photos of the hula dolls before they went to their new homes..and I was sick in bed ..so he took them to the park it was a rainy day but the photos turned out great!
Another last chance photo because my Edward Mobley Squeak cat got his new home..taken behind our apartment.
Another one taken at the park where me and Josh got married if you step behind the main part of the park you find this little secret area :) This dolls name is Mary Ellen ..She seemed like she needed a name and I asked Josh to name her and he named her after his great grandma.
This one was taken at the end of the day right before it got dark at this little tiny park in Monark Springs..Its not much of a park but it does have a spring and a Train car.

I have many more photos I have taken that Ill get ready soon and of course Ill be taking more :)
Lets just hope everyone wants them hanging on their walls :)

My Nostalgic Sick day

So I have been sick recently which has led to not doing anything and lots of staying in bed
and I have been in a nostalgic spirit because sick days always remind me of staying home from school and going to my Grandmas where she would tuck me in and let me watch cartoons all day while bringing me chicken noodle soup and juice or sprite.

I always preferred going to that grandmas house ( my dads mom ) my grandma on my moms sides house wasn't as comfy and I didn't have my own room or tv I couldn't watch movies all day..because she had her shows that she had to watch..her house was the house to go to on days when you weren't sick.

I remember I had this vhs tape of all my favorite stuff  my dad had copied it for me from various cartoons I had rented at the movie store.

The tape had Maxies World lots of it and Babes Kids ( which isn't really for children and is kind of weird ) and Tiny Toons Go on Vacation I remember I always brought that with me eventually it got lost I assume I left it over there and it got tossed out later..I wish I still had it.

I also had a tape of a bunch of Pippi Longstocking movies which I loved and Id watch those sometimes.

My Grandma would also read to me from Cookie Monster and the cookie tree she always choose that one :)

There were other books I liked one I don't remember the name of it was about Porky Pig and he was a farmer and another was The Day Jimmys Boa ate the wash and Harry the Dirty Dog and a few more.

I also had a ton of coloring books that I liked hoards of them actually because that was my Grandmas favorite thing to buy I remember Barbie coloring books and animal coloring books and a Holidays around the world coloring book and some others that were actually older than me because my older cousins had left them behind...Which brings me to the fact that while being sick I have been coloring because even though I have gotten older it is still one of my favorite things to do when im sick.

I remember shows I wouldn't normally see if I was at school and getting to watch them
one was called Pappy Land  he for some reason always choose to draw clowns and you really had to already have you paper and pencil and crayons ready or you would miss it.
I remember my cousins used to call me up when the show would come on ( they were homeschooled so this show was something they saw everyday ) and so when I was home they would call me to tell me to color with them.
Another show that came on really scared me The Big Comfy Couch .and that couch seemed so gross I always had a nasty feeling when she would crawl into it.
My other show came on at 9am which is a horrible schedule because once you reach 5 you cant watch it anymore because your at school ..school that starts to early at 8am.
I loved this show though the best part was when he went to the factories and we got to see how crayons and toilet seats were made I think the only thing I didn't like about the show was Lady Elaine she gave me terrible nightmares for years.

One of the neat things about being sick at my grandmas house was that I had my own room I could be in..it wasn't mine really it was my Grandpas den type room but he was always nice enough to let me use it and it had a tv and a HUGE couch and a fireplace and a glass door where you could look out at the pine trees ..inside the room was a bar it was never really used as one but I liked to go behind it because that's where the toys were and the books.
There actually weren't to many toys a handful of stuffed animals and a baby doll and some TMNT that my cousin had left behind.
The bar also made a nice comfy hideaway because the floor was really soft it had old green carpet plush carpet from the 70s.

I remember bringing my Gameboy and playing super Mario land all day.

My grandma would usually come in a couple times during the day to bring me a bowl of chicken noodle soup and crackers and a drink
I usually only came out of the room to watch Andy Griffith with them at 11 ( funny how I remember the tv schedules )

At 3:00ish cartoons started to come on and Id watch the Jetsons and have a snack of crackers and cheese.
and then soon after that it would be time to go home.

I really miss those sick days I think of them every time I get sick.

Radio Shack Raccoon Radio

So sometime back I bought this weird little Raccoon plush radio at the flea market and I had originally planned on turning it into a purse but as I was doing some research I discovered its simi rare and pretty neat..The Raccoon Radio Was made in 1981 for Christmas and its even in a radio museum! And highly sought after by collectors so I decided I shouldn't make him into a purse but I should put him up sale so that someone who loves him can give him a good home.

He takes 9 volts which I luckily had and I tried testing him but only got static but that wasn't surprising as our radio wont ever pick up stations for some reason.

Anyways I assume it works but im not sure but I listed it for sale in my shop and he is now looking to rock out in someones home.

I need to take another picture I didn't realize the string from the price tag got in the picture so it looks a little strange Ill take a new one later.

Heres a commercial I found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmRrUDCayPY

My First trade

So I finally did my first trade with the sweetest person her name is Angela and she has an etsy shop with lots of neat stuff check it out here https://www.etsy.com/shop/carnivalcats

I traded her my roly poly clown and a Penguin paper weight

and she made me the coolest little bear baby stuffed animal :) it reminds me of my woodland bear doll squeaky :)
and I also got another teddy bear which I gave to my husband because he thought it was adorable

and she sent a ton of extra little gifts.

Sophie was just as excited as I was over the package he loved everything all the individually wrapped stuff made him happy because he likes to unwrap things.

I had the Tiny Toons Elmira car as a kid so this made me really smile
also I love the muppet babies!  I love all the little gifts they surprised me :)

Thank you Angela! It was fun trading with you :) Hope we can do it again sometime.

Another Hula girl a Tomy Clock and Some other flea market finds

So on Saturday I woke up early and I felt sick sick sick but I knew I just had to drag myself out of bed or Id regret it who wants to spend the whole day in bed when they can be out flea marketing?
Not much can keep me from flea marketing because the whole idea of treasure hunting is just to much for me im like a little kid with lollypop dreams :)

Now I didn't find nearly as much as I had wanted or what I wanted ..I had dreams of squeakys being everywhere I looked and toys as far as the eye can see

The dream of finding Dreamland creations stuff and Alan Jay was soon crushed but still I had a good time and now I can restock my shop and my collection of squeakys grew by 3..Josh however saw my childish disappointment and promised me another big trip soon :) What a good man I have!!!

The first flea market I went to is usually where I spend all my money and where I find the best stuff I have a few booths that I make sure to take a peek at they are a mess and everything is cheap usually I find some good 80s toys ..umm not this time..in one of the big boxes of toys I found something that made me gasp in alarm it wasn't a toy at all..it was a pack of Trojan condoms at this point Josh had left me to do his own exploring because I always take forever at those boxes so I awaited his return and showed him he giggled a little and then showed me his find of a wonderful Tomy Wind up clock which I of course am adding to my collection as I have always wanted one..it was a good deal 2.00
Ill do a video soon :) I tried to do one tonight but it didn't work so Ill have Josh do it for me.
The next is a cute little vintage Horsman toys doll
I bought the little turtle in the package at this flea market the other 2 I found at the end of the day.
Im not sure who the pinochio looking guy is and The little doll is the dress I already have one similar in a pink dress but I like this one better her dress reminds me of a mushroom :)
I found this and it reminds me of a Russian Witch or something from Grimms Fairy tales I just love it...Its a salt and pepper shaker.
This sweet little pair almost had a tragedy as the clerk was wrapping then up they dropped the male Bunny but caught him at the last second! It would have been horrible had he broke what would the bride bunny do without him?
Add caption
In another favorite booth of mine I found this Odie Bank which Ill put in my Animal Charity shop I have sold Garfield stuff in it before to a nice lady.
I usually find a ton of things in this booth not this time around I only got 2 things out of it the other thing I didn't take a picture of because its a gift for someone.

I also found these guys! I wish it had been Cartman but when you see South Park stuff and that's not very often you don't pass it up! These guys are also a good size they need a bit of a cleaning and Stans shoes aren't in the best shape but I love them! I got Kyle for 5.00 and Stan for 3.00 its lucky that I got them at all because I lost the tag for Kyle because his hat kept coming off and I thought I lost the tag for Stan but it was in the bottom of the basket so I told them how much Kyle was and they rang it up.. I love that place most places would say no ticket no sale but they knew I was being honest with them :)

In the next flea market my basket remained empty until the last 2 booths and then I got a couple of things...This Sylvanian Family talking bunny I thought was neat
And this battery operated monkey tree though Im trying to decide whether or not to open it to check it to make sure its ok..because Im having trouble seeing whether or not its been opened before.
I got a small bag of toys most weren't very good but this Tomy windup caught my eye
And I didn't notice this in the bag until I got home its really cute but the hinges are broken :(

At the next flea market...................
I got the 2 squeakys in the picture above

And at some point my Kewpie Radar went off and I went over to a basket of scarves I don't even like scarves but I had a Kewpie feeling ( I get them ) and I dug until I found her :)
I picked up this Hula girl she needs fixed up but that should be easy she is almost identical to the one I currently have up for sale in my shop.
And this adorable book I couldn't resist it everything about it was cute.

It was getting late but luckily flea markets stay open late unlike where I live they close so early..
the next one was a complete disappointment oh ew SMC stuff and new clothes everywhere I bought nothing the only thing that caught my interest was a talking Pikachu bank but they wanted 70.00 for it so no thanks..I love Pikachu but not at that cost...
So then we went to Bass Pro to look for fishing stuff for Josh and then Grabbed Veggie Burgers at Burger king and went home to Sophie.
